A clean filter is essential for crystal-clear water. After months of inactivity, sand and cartridge filters can be clogged with dirt, oils, and algae spores.
Sand Filter: Backwash 3–4 minutes and rinse. Replace sand every 18 - 24 months. Old sand traps less dirt and reduces circulation efficiency.
Cartridge Filter: Remove and hose down thoroughly. For deep cleaning, soak overnight in filter cleaner. Replace if the cartridge is torn or worn.
Pump & Equipment Check: Inspect your pump and valves for leaks, unusual sounds, or worn seals. Lubricate O-rings as needed.
Why it matters: A clean filter reduces cloudy water, improves chemical efficiency, and prevents costly algae problems in summer.
Pro Tip: If your filter pressure spikes quickly after cleaning, the media may need replacement, or your pump may need servicing.
